If you are a health professional and a member of the Army Reserve, you may qualify for this award. To be eligible, you must either be enrolled in a program of education leading to professional qualifications, or be performing satisfactory service as an officer in the Selected Reserve of an armed force and already possess professional qualifications.
In addition, you must be in a health profession that the Secretary of Defense has determined to be needed critically in order to meet identified wartime combat medical skill shortages.
If you qualify, you are eligible to receive a maximum of $20,000 per year and a lifetime maximum of $50,000. The amount of repayment depends on the length of your service after the date on which the loan was made.

• Perkins loans
• Private student loans
